Opera is performed in two acts in the original language with synchronous Russian supertitles.

The Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre opened its doors to the audience on May 12, 1945 — three days after the end of the Great Patriotic War — and became the Victory Theatre in the minds of the residents of the city and the whole country.

The first performance on the Novosibirsk stage was Glinka's opera Ivan Susanin. “When the orchestra and the choir burst out with a mighty “Slav’sya!” - “Glory, glory to you, Native Land!”- everyone rose in common drive… And anyone who was lucky enough to be present at this extraordinary performance would never forget their impressions,” the first visitors recalled.

80 years later, this great music will resound under the arches of the Siberian Colosseum. On the theatre's birthday, May 12, 2025, a unique event will take place — the premiere of the opera Ivan Susanin in a concert scenic production by Vyacheslav Starodubtsev, music director and conductor is Mikhail Tatarnikov.

The first classical Russian opera will unite soloists from the country's leading opera houses: NOVAT, the Mariinsky, Perm and Moscow Novaya Opera Theatres, as well as the main musical and educational institutions of Novosibirsk: Novosibirsk State Conservatory named after M. Glinka, Novosibirsk Special Music School, Novosibirsk Music College named after A. Murov. On this day, more than 300 people will be engaged on NOVAT's Grand Stage as part of the combined orchestra and combined choir, which will be united by the anniversary of the great Victory Theatre.
