Alexander Volchkov in "Spartacus" Ballet

May 17, 2016

Principal dancer of the Bolshoi Theatre Alexander Volchkov will perform the part of Crassus in Spartacus ballet by Yuri Grigorovich on May 21.

This role is among the Honoured Artist of Russia Alexander Volchkov’s favourites. «Alexander Volchkov indeed looked like a real patrician in the role of Crassus, he expressed all nuances of the choreography very precisely and meaningfully », - ballet critic Nina Alovert comments on his interpretation of the roman general’s character.
The May performance is not the dancer’s first visit to Novosibirsk. In 2009 Alexander Volchkov performed the part of Count Albert in Giselle ballet in the framework of the Second Siberian Ballet Festival. Anna Odintsova was his dancing partner back then. «Alexander is a great dancing partner, very attentive and «comfortable» one. He is a true professional; we made a good team and came to understand each other perfectly at the very first rehearsal. I will gladly come on stage with Alexander again», — says the ballerina.

On May 21 main parts in Spartacus ballet will be performed by ballet stars Ivan Vasilyev (Spartacus) and Anna Zharova (Phrygia).
