Nikita Dolgushin’s Name will be Back to Novosibirsk Stage

February 29, 2016

On April 21st and 22nd the Novosibirsk opera and ballet theatre (NOVAT) will present the premiere of Giselle, or The Wilis ballet by Adolph Adam.

The production will be dedicated to the memory of the People’s Artist of the USSR Nikita Dolgushin (1938-2012), whose name is inseparably connected with the Novosibirsk Theatre. In his principle dancer days (1961-1966) the most prominent representative of the Leningrad ballet school danced main parts in the ballet productions of classical repertoire and became the first artist to perform in such landmark productions of the 60ties as Cinderella (Prince), and Romeo and Juliette (Romeo) as choreographed by Oleg Vinogradov.

Giselle gave a start to a brilliant career of Dolgushin as a dancer. His duet with Natalia Makarova rightly became a part of the world dance treasury. This production staged in the Mikhailovsky theatre became the final of the creative development of Nikita Dolgushin as a choreographer.

In NOVAT Nikita Dolgushin’s version of Giselle will be staged by Mikhail Messerer.

We look forward to welcoming you in NOVAT!
