Olga Kolobova: Amelia is my most loving character

May 23, 2017

Vyacheslav Starodubtsevs staging of Verdis Un Ballo in Maschera opera will be performed on Friday, 26 May at NOVAT. The Amelia part of the performance will be played by the international competition awardee and The Golden Mask winner Olga Kolobova, whose repertoire contains the biggest and the most complicated opera parts of the theatre Aida, Turandot, Tosca and many other.

My part in this opera may not be the most complicated one, but it sure is the most dramatic and tender at the same time. Amelia is the most loving one out of my characters, and she faces an eternal choice between a duty and a feeling told Olga Kolobova. Its interesting that she only has two arias considering all the tragedy, and the music fits it perfectly. There is a different type of ensembles that play the music that can be called even joyful, while my heroine is suffering.

Despite the tragic atmosphere, Verdis music in the performance is very versatile. It contains both intense, tragic tones and bright, even careless moments, which form a very vivid, spectacular and emotionally expressive performance, produced by a director Vyacheslav Starodubtsev and the designer Janna Usacheva.

I may call this period at the theatre a golden age, for each of my productions becomes a success noted Olga Kolobova I like working on a performance since the very beginning, and Im extremely happy to work with people like Vyacheslav Starodubtsev and Dmitry Yurovsky.

The next performance of Un Ballo in Maschera opera featuring Olga Kolobova will take place on 26 May. Tickets are available on the website and at the theatre box office.
