Cinderella: Lyricism and Grotesque

November 01, 2016

On November 13, Cinderella ballet by Sergey Prokofiev will be performed on our stage in the afternoon and evening. After the premiere of Romeo and Juliet dedicated to the 125th anniversary of Sergei Prokofiev’s birth, the Company will perform the production that won “The Golden Mask” as the best ballet production in 2006/2007.

Ten years ago choreographer Kirill Simonov staged the original version of Cinderella in Novosibirsk. The action was transferred to conventional time and place, the characters got exaggerated grotesque features and unusual plastique, but the comic side organically matched the penetrating lyricism. “Novosibirsk has a very strong world-class Ballet Company, - the choreographer who met some difficulties in assimilation of the massive stage space, shared his impressions. – The dancers possess their own style, school, understanding of the theatre essence and skills to dance on a huge stage”.

Leading soloists of the Theatre Anna Odintsova and Roman Polkovnikov will perform the main parts (in both the afternoon and evening performances).
