Alexei Zelenkov will Participate in “The Grand Opera” Project

October 08, 2016

On October 8 the new season of TV contest of young opera singers “The Grand Opera” starts. Alexei Zelenkov, the soloist of NOVAT, is one of the project participants. The Novosibirsk audience remembers the singer from the roles of George Germont in La traviata, Tomsky in The Queen of Spades, Amonasro in Aida.

“Let’s consider that I went there for new impressions, - says Alexei Zelenkov, - A TV contest has its own special aspects. The participants have to sing in a wireless microphone. It’s a little bit strange for a competition of opera singers, as the normal criteria for the jury is the power of the voice. I've been holding back on taking a decision, but finally agreed to participate in the project”.

Alexei Zelenkov is a graduate of the Novosibirsk State Conservatoire n.a. M.I. Glinka. He has already participated in six different competitions. In 2013 he won a grand prix and a diploma “For the best performing of Sergey Rakhmaninov’s romance” at I National Contest of vocalists named after Lidiya Myasnikova in Novosibirsk. In 2014 he became the winner of the II National Musical Contest in Moscow, and won a bronze medal at the XIII Youth Delphic Games of Russia in Volgograd. In 2015 he took part in the XV International Contest named after P.I. Tchaikovsky.

“Recently I got a little bit tired of various vocal contests, where you do not always come across the objective judgement. Therefore I consider any competition as a kind of lottery”, Alexei Zelenkov confessed. The first program of “The Grand Opera” will be broadcasted on “Kultura” channel on October 8. We wish Alexei Zelenkov a successful start in a popular TV project!
