Veronika Dzhioeva’s debut in “Un Ballo in Maschera”

March 22, 2018

A highly anticipated debut will happen on 25th March – brilliant soloist of the Novosibirsk opera Veronika Dzhioeva will perform Amelia in Verdi’s “Un Ballo in Maschera” staged by director Vyacheslav Starodubtsev.

Right after “Opera space” festival recently finished in Moscow, holder of “divine soprano”, one of the most artistic and energetic opera stars is returning to the Novosibirsk theatre with an interesting and divers programme.

Veronika Dzhioeva: “I feel anxious, because this time I come to Novosibirsk I’m singing Amelia for the first time in a very spectacular production of Vyacheslav Starodubtsev. Besides that, Verdi is totally my music. I feel easy and free with his works, his music goes together with my voice, it speaks to me.”

Veronika Dzhioeva has been preparing Amelia for a long time: in October 2017 Veronika sang Amelia at Prague premiere of “Un Ballo in Maschera” under a famous European conductor Jaroslav Kinsling. This performance started the new season at the Prague National Theatre. Veronika performs Amelia’s aria from time to time at her recitals, in March 2018 she performed it at the State Kremlin Palace during the Gala-concert “Elena Obraztsova Opera ball” dedicated to Franco Zeffirelli.

“I like Amelia a lot as a character – she has so much of feminine tenderness, so much warmth and charm, it’s impossible not to fall for her. And those amazing tunes, her arias are so full of emotions, it’s a fate’s gift for any soprano singer – shared Veronika Dzhioeva – and I got lucky with “Un Ballo in Maschera”: besides that Amelia’s part fits my voice perfectly, the two shows where I sing it, they are both classic, costume performances, I really appreciate it. I like that the director of the Novosibirsk performance Vyacheslav Starodubtsev wants us, the artists, to look beautiful and elegant in all his productions”.

Do not miss Veronika Dzhioeva’s debut in Verdi’s “Un Ballo in Maschera” March 25th, at 7 pm.
