Irina Churilova will Debut in Aida

August 28, 2016

On September 20 leading soloist of NOVAT Irina Churilova will debut in one of the most challenging parts of the world's opera repertoire - she will perform the main part in Aida opera.

"The part of Aida is formidably difficult, but incredibly beautiful. This is a top-grade part, a dream part... A part that demands the highest professional level. Aida is a role that one should master his entire life and the path of perfection is far from simple. The great Maria Gulegina once said that she had been perfecting her Adia for 30 years... I have been delaying my work on this role for a very long time but now the time has come for me to begin my path in it. It is only the first step on this difficult but wondrous path" - Irina Churilova comments on the upcoming debut.

Today Irina Churilova is one of the brightest stars of the Novosibirsk opera and ballet theatre and a guest soloist of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky theatres, diploma winner of the "Golden Mask" national theatre festival. During the last season some of most challenging soprano parts were added into her repertoire, among them were Liu in the premiere of Turandot opera by Puccini and Desdemona in a stage version of Otello by Verdi on the stage of NOVAT; Amelia in Simon Boccanegra and Elizabeth in Don Carlos by Verdi, Fevroniya in The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh by Rimsky-Korsakov on the stage of the Mariinsky theatre.

Irina Churilova will start the new season with a grand debut in Aida fashion-opera staged by Vyacheslav Starodubtsev.
