Siberian summer is quiet unpredictable, it may bring sudden showers or unbearable heat to spoil your plans, but the Summertime Ballet at NOVAT will bring unforgettable emotions and magic memories. A fascinating caravan of ballet performances “Summertime Ballet” invites the audience to enjoy the perfect classic choreography and contemplate the modern renditions of familiar stories in the finest romantic performances of the Novosibirsk theatre.
On 3rd and 4th July Khachaturyan’s ballet “Spartacus” will be staged with the choreography by Yury Grigorovich, which is said to be the summit of heroic male dance. The legendary performance tells in the language of choreography about courage, sacrificial love and power of human will.
On 3rd July Spartacus will be performed by the outstanding dancer Ivan Vasiliev, Phrygia by Kseniya Zakharova, Crassus by Mikhail Lifentsev, Aegina by Anna Germizeyeva.
On 4th July: Spartacus – Roman Polkovnikov, Phrygia – Anna Zharova, Crassus – Denis Matvienko, Aegina – Anna Odintsova.

On 6th and 7th July Minkus’s ballet “La Bayadère” will be staged; the plot tells an ancient love story between a temple dancer Nikiya and a brave warrior Solor. One of the most popular NOVAT performances combines luxury eastern scenery with a subtle beauty of a classic dance. The amazing costumes of Alexander Vasiliev, the fashion historian, require an extra mentioning.

The gem of Russian ballet classics, Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” will be performed on 11th and 12th July. The most popular ballet masterpiece has been capturing the audience with deeply mysterious, genius Tchaikovsky’s music and charming with its choreographic excellence.

On 14th and 15th July the summer ballet season at NOVAT will continue with Prokofiev’s “Cinderella”. In this modern version, put up by the choreographer Kirill Simonov a familiar plot is finding new shapes and means keeping the good old fairy tale charm from the childhood.

The classic ballet masterpiece “Giselle ou les Wilis” by Adolphe Adam will be staged on 17th and 18th July. The essence of the plot is an ancient legend of vengeful Wilis – spirits of brides died before the wedding. The moving, romantic story of a young peasant and a count on the interface of reality and underworld.

Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty” ballet will be performed 20th and 21st July.
The contemporary choreographer Nacho Duato combines new ballet choreography with a reverent attitude to the classic ballet masterpiece. The enchanting magic atmosphere will be created by the impressive setting and sophisticated dreamlike costumes, designed by Serbian artist Angelina Atlagich.
