Our Theatre of Victory will celebrate its 81st birthday with a grand Gala Concert

The Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre— Our Theatre of Victory, will celebrate its 81st birthday with a grand gala concert on the Grand Stage.

On May 12, a rich festive opera and ballet program will feature vivid pages of world musical classics performed by favourite soloists of Opera and Ballet Companies, Symphony Orchestra and Choir of the NOVAT, as well as guests from the Mariinsky Theatre.

In the first part of the concert, the art of opera will shine with all facets. The concert will open with the overture to the opera Ruslan and Lyudmila by M. Glinka; arias, duets and ensembles from operas by A. Borodin, P. Tchaikovsky, G. Verdi, L. Delibes and other classical composers will continue the program, and the famous Drinking Song from La Traviata by G. Verdi will conclude the opera part.

The evening's ballet program will begin with the shining of Diamonds with the music by P. Tchaikovsky, a fragment of George Balanchine's famous ballet Jewels. Next, the audience will enjoy an extravaganza of ballet numbers representing Russian, foreign and Soviet ballet classics. The dance variety includes the charm of P. Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker, the oriental sensuality of N. Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, the fiery energy of A. Khachaturian's Sabre Dance and other numbers. A special birthday present for our beloved theatre will be a performance by the invited artists of the Mariinsky Theatre: Principal Dancer Nadezhda Batoeva and First Soloist Konstantin Zverev.

The celebration of music, talent and virtuosity on May 12 is a gift to our dear theatre goers and a declaration of love for our magnificent Theatre of Victory.
