This autumn you will have an opportunity to watch your favorite classical operas and ballets of NOVAT, brightest premieres of the previous season and the landmark event of the recently started 78th season – a grand new rendition of Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride staged by the Artistic Director of NOVAT Dmitri Jurowski and Chief Stage Director Vyacheslav Starodubtsev. Next premiere shows of this great Russian opera are scheduled on 16 October and 6 November at the Main Stage of our theatre.
The first operatic premiere of our Small Stage is scheduled on 23 October. Conductor Dmitri Jurowski in cooperation with a young stage director Irina Gaudasinskaya, who won a chance to stage a performance on NOVAT stage at an International competition for young opera directors “Nano-Opera”, will present an opera The Taming of the Shrew after Shakespeare’s comedy written by a contemporary composer Vissarion Shebalin.
This autumn’s playbill contains a few gems of the world operatic repertoire. The Main Stage of our theatre will host Bizet’s Carmen replete with passions and emotions, a story of love, betrayal and broken dreams in Puccini’s Tosca, a most mysterious Russian opera The Queen of Spades. The Game by Tchaikovsky, Rossini’s cheerful The Barber of Seville and Tchaikovsky’s lyrical piece Iolanta.
This October we invite you to watch the best ballets of the 77th season. A striking and classy production of Notre Dame de Paris created by an outstanding French ballet master Roland Petit is scheduled on 26 and 27 October. A witty, intelligible ballet full of idyllic rural charm La Fille mal gardée by a classical British choreographer Frederick Ashton is to be performed twice on 30 October. The ballet playbill of October comprises ageless, ever-young classics: Delibes’ Coppélia, Adam’s Le Corsaire and Giselle ou les Wilis, Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, Minkus’ Don Quixote. October 2022 is planning to be rich in choreographic masterpieces that enriched the world ballet heritage in the second part of the XXth century: enchanting fairy-tale Cinderella, a poignant love story of Romeo and Juliet by Prokofiev and a heroic Spartacus by A. Khachaturian.
We invite your whole family to see wonderful performance that will leave no kid unaffected and will help adults feel like children and believe in miracles again. 23 October the Main Stage of NOVAT will welcome brave and joyful crew – Cipollino, Radish and other garden dwellers to fight for justice again in a vivid and captivating ballet Cipollino. The autumn recess at NOVAT will start with Shchedrin’s The Little Humpbacked Horse, one of the main events of the previous season. We invite both kids and adults to immerse in a fairy vibe of a Russian ballet fantasy.
In November we already start to prepare for our favorite winter holidays. The foretaste of the New Year and Christmas will be enhanced by the most miraculous ballet of the classical repertoire - Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, scheduled on 3 and 4 November.
All of the performances are covered by The Pushkin Card.
Tickets are available on our website, in our mobile application and at the theatre box office.
Looking forward to meeting you at NOVAT!
