NOVAT has prepared a large and diverse program for the World Theatre Day, which is celebrated annually on March 27.
In the evening, one of the most theatrical operas of the world repertoire, Pagliacci by R. Leoncavallo, will be shown on the Grand Stage. The plot centers on a love drama in a troupe of vagarious comedians. In the performance, the stage director of the opera, Irkin Gabitov, effectively makes play with the dramatic technique of “theatre in the theatre”. During the intermission of Pagliacci, the curtain does not close, and all viewers can watch as the comedy sets are installed on the NOVAT stage, during which both the audience in the hall and the audience on stage witness the tragic outcome of the story.
The festive concert The Theatre City of Novosibirsk on the Small Stage will unite the creative forces of the theatre groups of the capital of Siberia. In a joint project between NOVAT and the Novosibirsk branch of the Union of Theatre Workers of Russia, creative performances will be presented by artists of the theatres: Krasny Fakel, Globus, Novosibirsk Musical Theatre, Novosibirsk Regional Puppet Theatre, Youth Drama Theatre “First Theatre” and others. Novosibirsk's leading creative educational institutions, the Novosibirsk State Glinka Conservatory, the Novosibirsk State Choreographic School and the Novosibirsk State Theatre Institute will also join the celebration. This evening, NOVAT will bring together friends to celebrate the power of creativity, the continuity of generations, and the richness of Novosibirsk's theatrical traditions.
On the evening of March 27, the All-Russian action Night of Theatrical Art will be also held for the first time and the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will take part in this large-scale event with an unusual program that will begin at the end of the Pagliacci performance at 22:00.
