The premiere performances of a new production of G. Verdi's opera La traviata were held on NOVAT's Grand Stage with great success. The famous stage director Sergey Novikov, in his new work on the Siberian stage, supported the traditions of Italian opera and, together with the production team, presented to the Siberian audience a large-scale, picturesque, emotionally intense performance with wonderful acting.
Almost three thousand Novosibirsk residents and guests watched the premiere on June 4 and 5 and, judging by the prolonged ovation, were delighted with the performance. Due to the huge audience interest, another performance of the grand premiere has been added to the theatre's playbill on July 20.
For two evenings, the audience was delighted with the acting ensembles. The soloists of our Opera Company Ekaterina Begunovich and Diana Belozor shone in the main role, NOVAT soloist Konstantin Zakharov and guest soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre Gamid Abdulov performed the role of Alfredo, the wonderful baritones of the Novosibirsk Opera Pavel Antsiferov and Gury Guryev appeared in the role of Giorgio Germont.
The premiere demonstrated the high skill and coordinated collaboration of the NOVAT opera company, the choir, and the theatre's symphony orchestra under the direction of conductor Philipp Selivanov.
The truly magnificent scenery by designer Sergey Novikov has become more than just the backdrop for the story of Violetta Valery, one of the most famous women in world culture. They allowed the viewer to see the inner world of a beautiful, intelligent, pure young soul who retained nobility and the ability to sacrifice in difficult life circumstances. The work of lighting designer Ruslan Mayorov and video designer Dmitry Ivanchenko enlivened the atmosphere and filled the stage action with dynamics.
We would like to thank the participants of the premiere performances and all those involved in the creation of the new production for the excellent result of their hard work and the most vivid impressions they gave us!
We wish La traviata a long and successful stage life and look forward to the audience at the next premiere performances on July 19th and 20th!
