Mikhail Glinka's opera Ivan Susanin, staged by Vyacheslav Starodubtsev and performed on NOVAT's Grand Stage on May 12, 2025, was given the Onegin National Opera Award. The awarding ceremony took place on the historic stage of the Mariinsky Theatre on November 29.
The Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, the same age as the Great Victory, celebrated its anniversary and the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War with the performance of Mikhail Glinka's opera.
The opening of the theatre on May 12, 1945, was a huge event for the whole country. Then the final chorus “Slav’sya!” (“Glory to you!”) sounded from the stage of the theatre to commemorate the triumph of humanistic ideals, the victory of truth, goodness and beauty.
The performance of the opera Ivan Susanin on May 12, 2025 had once again become a unifying event for Novosibirsk. The concert scenic version of the Russian opera masterpiece was presented by Vyacheslav Starodubtsev (NOVAT's Chief Stage Director, Head of the Novosibirsk Conservatory, Honoured Artist of Russia), Mikhail Tatarnikov (Music Director and Chief Conductor of the theatre), and Maria Moiseenko (Chief Choirmaster). The main roles were performed by: soloist of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre Garry Agadzhanian (Ivan Susanin), soloist of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Diana Belozor (Antonida), soloist of the Moscow Novaya Opera Theatre Alexey Tatarintsev (Bogdan Sobinin), soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre Ekaterina Sergeeva (Vanya). As part of the combined choir and orchestra, young musicians from the Novosibirsk State Conservatory named after M. Glinka, Novosibirsk Special Music School, Novosibirsk Music College named after A. Murov participated in the production. More than three hundred people were united on the stage by the anniversary of our theatre.
The grandiose concert performance in honour of the 80th anniversary of the opening of the theatre was marked by the Expert Council of the 10th Onegin National Opera Award in the nomination “Event”.
