Sergey Tenitilov

Sergey Tenitilov graduated from the Conducting and Choral Faculty of the Novosibirsk State Conservatory named after M. Glinka (class of Honoured Art Worker of the RSFSR, Professor B. Pevzner, 1986).

From 1981 to 1994 he worked in the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Chamber Choir under the direction of B. Pevzner and I. Yudin (since 1987). During the collaboration of the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Chamber Choir with the Moscow Chamber Choir conducted by People’s Artist of the USSR V. Minin he was actively involved as a choirmaster in the preparation of archival recording of the works: Night Clouds, Pushkin's Garland by G. Sviridov and Ten Poems on Texts by Revolutionary Poets by D. Shostakovich. In addition, during that period he was choirmaster and soloist of the Philharmonic choral ensemble Markell’s Voices, performing with the group in Russia and abroad (Austria and Germany), as well as choirmaster of the Philharmonic early music ensemble Insula Magica, touring with the group at international festivals (Germany, Sweden, Malta).

Since 1994, Sergey Tenitilov has been the choirmaster of the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. He is the choirmaster of all opera performances in the repertoire, and has been the production choirmaster in a number of performances: Boris Godunov and Khovanshchina by M. Mussorgsky, Prince Igor by A. Borodin, Aida and Macbeth by G. Verdi, Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District by D. Shostakovich, Mass by L. Bernstein, and others. From 2005 to 2011 he participated in the work of the theatre’s chamber choir The New Siberian Singers; under the direction of T. Currentzis he prepared and performed: Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Kancheli's Styx, Requiems by Verdi, Brahms, Mozart, Stravinsky's Les Noces and The Symphony of Psalms, Shchedrin's The Sealed Angel and Boyarina Morozova.

Under the direction of the theatre's chief choirmaster V. Podyelsky, he prepared a number of concerts with the participation of the theatre's choir, at which the following works were performed: Mass by L. Bernstein (2013), All-Night Vigil and The Bells by S. Rachmaninoff (2014), Alexander Nevsky by S. Prokofiev (2015), Requiem by G. Verdi (2010, 2014, 2019), Stabat Mater by G. Rossini (2017), Christmas Oratorio by Metropolitan Hilarion (2018), The Last Tsar by I. Salnikova (2018).

Together with the Choral Company of the theatre, he participated in concerts on the stage of the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory (2008, 2009); in the festivals: Cherry Forest, Easter Festival (The Assumption Cathedral of the Kremlin), as well as in festivals in London (2005), Baden-Baden (2010). In addition to his work as a choirmaster, he performs as a choir artist. From 2005 to 2011, he taught at the Department of Choral Conducting at the Novosibirsk State Conservatory named after M. Glinka.
