Dear friends, NOVAT is waiting for Novosibirsk residents and guests of the city at its performances this summer. Family trips to the theatre and evening meetings with the art of opera and ballet will add bright colours and vivid emotions to your summer impressions. For those who like to plan their leisure time in advance, here is an announcement of our summer events on the Grand Stage.
Don't miss our opera premiere in June. Pyotr Tchaikovsky's rarely performed opera The Oprichnik will be presented on June 19 by NOVAT soloists and creative teams, as well as guest stars Alexey Tikhomirov and Vadim Volkov. Tchaikovsky's opera will supplement the classical Russian repertoire of our theatre; and the first acquaintance of the Siberian public with the outstanding work of the great composer will take place on May 14, when The Oprichnik opera will be performed by artists of the Mikhailovsky Theatre as part of the first Siberian tour of the St. Petersburg Company.
World opera masterpieces are also announced in the summer playbill of the NOVAT Grand Stage. The famous story of a daring gypsy woman, full of passions and soul torments, Carmen by G. Bizet awaits the audience on June 2 at 5:00pm. The cheerful operetta Die Fledermaus by J. Strauss (June 8 at 5:00pm), as well as the opera tasting L’elisir d’amore by G. Donizetti (June 30 at 5:00pm) with an elegant witty plot and captivating arias will certainly give you a carefree summer mood. The opera quest Turandot by G. Puccini will open the way to imperial China to the heart of the mysterious and cruel princess on July 7 at 5:00pm. NOVAT will present the opera Tosca by G. Puccini with the participation of the brilliant opera diva Veronika Dzhioeva on July 14 at 5:00pm; and the Russian opera Prince Igor by A. Borodin will transfer to the world of the Slavic epos on July 17 at 7:00pm.
A reminder of the winter magic will be the June shows of Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker in the legendary production by Yuri Grigorovich (June 5, 6, 7). We would like to draw your attention to the long-awaited evening of one-act ballets with contemporary choreography Ssss, Radio and Juliet, announced on June 12, as well as the summer premiere of the ballet Le Corsaire edited by A. Omar on June 15. In V. Vasiliev's wonderful production of Anyuta ballet with the music by V. Gavrilin, which will be shown on June 22, the plot of A. Chekhov's story is retold with expressive grace of movement and filled with genuine drama. Among the ballet titles in NOVAT summer repertoire there is the famous Shakespearean love story Romeo and Juliet (June 9, 26 and 27), as well as the fabulous Cinderella (June 1, July 5 and 6) by S. Prokofiev; the diamond in the crown of the Russian ballet is Swan Lake by P. Tchaikovsky (20, June 21 and July 18, 19); the stylish avant-garde ballet Notre Dame de Paris staged by Roland Petit (June 13 and 14, July 11); fabulous ballet blockbuster with Russian flavour The Little Humpbacked Horse by R. Shchedrin (July 12 and 13). In the summer we will show elegant neoclassical productions by Nacho Duato ‒ the ballets La Bayadere by L. Minkus (July 4), The Sleeping Beauty by P. Tchaikovsky (June 28, 29, July 16), as well as A. Khachaturian's heroic Spartacus (July 3) in the legendary version by Yu. Grigorovich.
The performances participate in the Pushkin Card program.
