A very special gift is waiting for the Novosibirsk audience in the end of October and November 2017: one of the most brilliant soloists of the Novosibirsk opera is going to take part in Bizet’s “Carmen” on 27th October and in the renovated “La Bohème” by Puccini on 5th November. Winner of Russian and international competitions, she is always welcomed at the best opera stages of the world, as well as in her hometown, where she always stars in the lead parts.
This is the tenth, anniversary theatre season for Irina Churilova. She entered the opera company of the Novosibirsk theatre in 2008 while still studying at the conservatory. From the very beginning she got the leading soprano parts – Tatiana from “Eugene Onegin”, Iolanta from opera of the same name, Micaëla from “Carmen”. Her artistic talent was immediately marked by the audience: “Each her appearance on the stage is a significant event, a new revelation. Rarely we can see a singer capable of rendering all the slightest aspects of a vocal part. Besides that, Irina possesses an amazing energy affecting the listeners: when she is singing you start seizing her every move, every note, every emotion” – mentioned theatre goers in their feedback.
Her outstanding talent was recognized far beyond Novosibirsk and Russia: after performances at Mariinsky and Bolshoi theatres she debuted as Norma of Bellini’s opera at Austrian Graz Opera in May 2017, and then in summer she performed Aida during the famous annual festival Arena di Verona. Nowadays, Irina Churilova is a winner of multiple Russian and international competitions: Francisco Viñas International Singing Competition (Barcelona, 2014 – IV prize and special award for performing Russian music), International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition (Düsseldorf, 2014 – I prize and the Audience Award), International Singing Competition of Toulouse (2012, second Grand-Prix), she was also a finalist of Plácido Domingo's Operalia in Verona, 2013.
