Tickets for May performances are now available

You can now book tickets for May performances of NOVAT on our website, mobile app and the theatre box office.

During this May holidays the Main Stage of NOVAT will host Tchaikovsky’s opera Iolanta, Minkus’ ballets La Bayadère and Don Quixote, Adam’s Giselle ou les Wilis. The Second Stage will be engaged for the concerts Festive May and Dedicated to the Victory Day along with family friendly operas Puss in Boots by Cui and Steadfast Tin Soldier by Banevich. NOVAT lights the Stars concert will reveal the names of future operatic stars, winners of the X International Competition for Opera Singers.

The festive gala Happy Birthday, NOVAT! Is scheduled on 12 May on the Main Stage of the theatre. The Victory Theatre that was inaugurated in the unforgettable May 1945 will be congratulated by the stars of the Bolshoi Theatre, the Mikhailovsky Theatre and luminaries of NOVAT companies – Ivan Vasiliev, Vladislav Lantratov, Denis Rodkin, Maria Alexandrova, Leonid Sarafanov, Anna Zharova, Roman Polkovnikov, Alexey Tikhomirov, Sofia Fainberg and other outstanding performers of Russia’s biggest theatre companies.

The highly anticipated spring premiere of a dynamic and colorful ballet The Little Humpbacked Horse by Rodion Shchedrin is scheduled on 13 and 14 May. Modern theatre technologies enable the NOVAT stage to transform into a decorated Palekh casket full of wonders. The first nights of the show will feature a Russian movie and theatre star Marat Basharov as Tsar – the famous artist will make his debut in a ballet production. NOVAT ballet stars will also take part in the premiere shows performing the roles of Tsar Maiden, Ivan and The Little Humpbacked Horse: Honored Artist of Russia Olga Grishenkova, Roman Polkovnikov and Ekaterina Likhova; Anna Germizeeva, Nikita Ksenofontov and Elizaveta Anoshina.

Another landmark event of May playbill is a wonderful ballet Cipollino, scheduled on 21 May. The afternoon performance is dedicated to the memory of recently deceased outstanding ballet master Genrikh

Mayorov, who created a choreographic version for this loveable family ballet. This May we also invite those, who haven’t seen one of the main premieres of the season, Roland Petit’s Notre Dame de Paris. Take this opportunity to see Victor Hugo’s masterpiece retold in an expressive choreographic language.

This May’s playbill has numerous occasions for a family visit to the theatre. Both kids and adults will enjoy a lovely fairy-tale ballet The Sleeping Beauty on our Main Stage, joyous and colorful children’s operas on our Second Stage: Cui’s Little Red Riding Hood, Polsky’s Terem-Teremok (little tower house), Gladkikh’s Midge and Karlsson.

The big opera is presented in NOVAT’s May playbill with Russian and foreign masterpieces: Bizet’s Carmen, Verdi’s La Traviata, Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov.

Ballet repertoire of May will comprise beloved classical productions of Romeo and Juliet by Prokofiev and Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky.

All above mentioned performances fall under The Pushkin Card.
