Artist of NOVAT Ballet Company Nikita Ksenofontov is a winner of the National contest of dancers and choreographers in Moscow.
Nikita Ksenofontov got the Gold Medal and the title of Laureate of the professional choreographic competition that took place in Moscow between October 30 and November 4. It is one of the most significant ballet contests in Russia that was initiated by an outstanding choreographer, the People’s Artist of the USSR Yuri Grigorovich.
Participants competed in two age groups. The dancer of the Novosibirsk opera and ballet theatre Nikita Ksenofontov appeared at number 1 of the senior group and kept the leading position during all three tours of the contest. 32 contestants from different cities of Russia, each of them possessing titles of Laureates of various competitions, became Nikita’s rivals. According to the opinion of an authoritative jury that included choreographer Yuri Grigorovich, principal of Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet Nikolai Tsiskaridze, repetiteur of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia Lyudmila Semenyaka, artistic director of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Sergey Bobrov and other merited masters of arts, Nikita Ksenofontov achieved a flawless victory.
It’s worth mentioning that contest of this year was a kind of elimination round for the XIII Moscow International Dancers and Choreographers Competition that will take place in June, 2017 on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia. It means that Nikita Ksenofontov will become a participant of the XIII Moscow International Ballet Competition avoiding shortlisting.

Nikita Ksenofontov was born on November 6, 1995, in Kazan. Presently he is a student of Grade III of Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. In 2015, he joined the Ballet Company of the Novosibirsk Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre where he works under guidance of repetiteur Maksim Grishenkov. The repertoire of the dancer includes solo parts in such ballets as Cipollino, Spartacus, Romeo and Juliet, Don Quixote, The Nutcracker, The Flames of Paris, Cinderella, Le Corsaire, Swan Lake and many others. Nikita is a Laureate of the first prize and winner of the Gold Medal in nomination “Character Dance” at the National Contest of Dancers and Choreographers (Moscow, 2014). The artist toured in France and Thailand.
