Airat Tukhvatullin

Airat Rashitovich Tukhvatullin was born on September 22, 1976. In 1993, he finished Kazan high school No. 122, and in 1998, he graduated from Production Faculty of the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) with a degree in Performing Arts Management. He worked as the chief administrator, the administrator of the ballet group in the regional public organization “Grand Gala Production”. The most significant projects implemented during that period were the organization and holding of the Ilze Liepa’s creative evening (1995); the organization and holding of the charity concert of the program “Stars of the Russian Ballet” at UNESCO headquarters in Paris (1997); conducting tours of the program “Ilze Liepa and the Stars of the Russian Ballet” in Russian cities and countries around the world; tours of the National Ballet of Lorraine (Nancy, France) featuring the stars of the Grand Opera Theatre at the Bolshoi Theatre.

From 1999 to 2007, Airat Tukhvatullin held the position of General Director of the non-profit partnership “Factory of Theatrical Events”, and later headed the Theatre under the direction of M. Gorevoy. After that, he worked in senior positions at the cultural and entertainment complex “Pyramid” (Kazan, 2009), the Moscow Theatre under the direction of Sergey Bezrukov (Deputy director, 2009-2011); the Central House of Actors named after A. Yablochkina (Moscow, 2013-2015), the International Theatre Agency “Interstage” (2011-2017), and also engaged in independent organizing and conducting various projects.

In 2016, he graduated from the Russian State Social University, Faculty of Public and Municipal Administration with a degree in Social Enterprise Management. From July 2017 to July 1, 2019, he was the director of the Moscow Moon Theatre (artistic director was Sergey Prokhanov).

From January 23, 2020 to May 2022, Airat Tukhvatullin was the director of the Russian State Academic Drama Theatre named after F. Volkov in Yaroslavl.

In 2023, he graduated with honours from the master’s program of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) with a degree in Management in the field of Culture, Education and Science.

From May 2022 to February 2024, he was the first deputy managing and artistic director of the Moscow Art Theatre named after A. Chekhov.

On February 29, 2024, he was appointed director of the Nizhny Novgorod State Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A. Pushkin.

Since December 2025, Airat Tukhvatullin has been appointed director of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.
