Born in Gent, Belgium.
Studied at the Municipal Ballet School in Antwerp, Belgium under the Artistic Direction of Jos Brabants. Won the Prix de Lausanne in 1985 and full scholarship to the School of American Ballet, the official school of the New York City Ballet.
Joined New York City Ballet in 1986, performed many principal roles in ballets by George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins.
Originated the role of Prince Desire in Peter Martins production of the Sleeping Beauty.
Currently a repetiteur for the George Balanchine Trust and the Jerome Robbins Rights Trust.
