Romanticism is perhaps one of the most sensual and captivating epochs. Romantic composers tried to use music to express the depth and richness of a person's inner world, to convey the extraordinariness of a fantastic world, forcing to forget for a moment about the realities of modern life by means of the charming beauty of sounds... It became possible to reflect the main theme of romanticism – the struggle of the lyrical hero, the juxtaposition of his experiences, reflections on fate and destiny. In the era of romanticism, vocal music became the focus of attention of artists of different generations, because it is vitally connected with the expression of human feelings. Songs and romances entered the area of primary interests of romantics and became a symbol of freedom of self-expression.
The concert Masterpieces of Foreign Music presents a program dedicated to chamber and vocal music of the Romantic era. The concert will feature works by Austrian, German, and French composers – Schubert, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Fauré, and others.
