The first part of the concert will feature two outstanding cycles by the English composer Benjamin Britten, written exclusively for children's voices – Missa brevis in D and A Ceremony of Carols. The first cycle, unlike the full catholic mass, has a more compact size and does not include the most detailed part, the Credo. The piece was created in 1959 and first performed at Westminster Cathedral in London. The second one, a cycle of 12 short pieces based on ancient English and Latin texts for a boys' choir and harp, was written by the composer in 1942, and the title of the work in the Russian translation was loosely translated as Christmas Songs.
In the second part, you will enjoy favourite songs from famous Russian movies and cartoons.
