On the NOVAT Main Stage - Closing of the Vasilisa Berzhanskaya Siberian Opera Festival

The Vasilisa Berzhanskaya Siberian Opera Festival will conclude on the NOVAT stage with one of Giuseppe Verdi's most famous works – the opera "La Traviata."

Renowned Russian opera director Sergei Novikov turns to Giuseppe Verdi's lyrical and psychological score for La Traviata at the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. This new production of this Italian operatic masterpiece preserves the original intent in all its dramatic fullness, uncensored, and stays as close as possible to its literary source—Alexandre Dumas fils's novel La Dame aux Camélias, which has captivated audiences for over a century and a half with its frank, tragic love story.

Vasilisa Berzhanskaya, winner of the International Opera Awards and a leading opera singer in Europe and the United States, will perform the role of Violetta Valéry. She has been acclaimed at La Scala, the Opéra National de Paris, the Metropolitan Opera, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Deutsche Oper, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and many others.

The role of Alfredo Germont will be performed by Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia Liparit Avetisyan, one of the most sought-after tenors on the international opera scene, who has conquered the Vienna State Opera, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Dutch National Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, and many other venues worldwide. He is a winner of the Russian National Theatre Award "Golden Mask" and the National Opera Award "Onegin."

Giorgio Germont will be performed by People's Artist of Mongolia Amartuvshin Enkhbat, one of the most renowned baritones of our time. Amartuvshin has performed as Germont at the Arena di Verona, the Vienna State Opera, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Rome Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, and many other opera houses worldwide. He is a laureate of international vocal competitions, including Operalia, the International Tchaikovsky Competition, and the Francisco Viñas Competition.

At the conductor's stand of the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre Symphony Orchestra is Italian conductor Beatrice Venezia, principal guest conductor of the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires.

The Vasilisa Berzhanskaya Siberian Opera Festival will be held in Novosibirsk from October 18 to December 30, 2026, with the support of the Novosibirsk Region Government, the Novosibirsk Region Ministry of Culture, and the Governor of the Novosibirsk Region, A. A. Travnikov. The festival is organized by the Vasilisa Berzhanskaya Opera Development Foundation and the Novosibirsk State Philharmonic.
